History of Our Chapter

Alpha Omicron Pi was founded January 2, 1897 at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City. AOII has chapters in over 39 states and Canada. With 177 collegiate chapters installed and over 290 alumnae chapters, over 115,000 women have joined AOII.

Alpha Omicron Pi is founded on the principles of sisterhood, philanthropy, scholarship, growth in character and unity among sisters.

Alpha Omicron Pi means different things to different sisters, but the core of beliefs and values goes beyond any differences. Alpha Omicron Pi sisters are committed to excellence in all areas.

Our Mission

Object & purpose of AOII

"The object of this fraternity shall be to encourage a spirit of fraternity and love among its members; to stand at all times for character, dignity, scholarship, and college loyalty; to strive for and support the best interests of the colleges and universities in which chapters are installed; and in no way to disregard, injure or sacrifice those interests for the sake of the prestige or advancement of the fraternity or any of its chapters." - AOII's Founders, 1897
